Installation Considerations
All panels are pre-cut, pre-polished, and numbered for installation sequence. We provide detailed layout drawings with vein-matching guidance. For wet areas (showers, steam rooms), seal the stone with a high-performance water-repellent impregnator. Use flexible grout and neutral-cure silicone sealant at all junctions.
FAQ
What is the best thickness for marble wall cladding?
15–20 mm for standard interior walls. For lightweight applications on upper floors or partition walls, 10 mm with a reinforcing mesh backer is sufficient. For external ventilated facades, 20–30 mm with mechanical fixings.
Can marble cladding be installed in showers?
Yes. Use a honed or brushed finish for better grip underfoot on shower floors. On walls, polished or honed are both suitable. All edges must be sealed. Calacatta, Statuario, and Bianco Dolomiti are popular choices.
How are bookmatched panels fabricated?
A single slab is cut into two or more panels, then opened like a book (left-right mirror) or slid (repeat pattern) to create symmetrical vein patterns across the wall. Four-book and radial bookmatching are used for more complex layouts.
Do you supply mitred corners for external returns?
Yes. We mitre and polish all exposed external corners to create continuous, seamless returns around pillars, alcoves, and window reveals. This eliminates the need for corner trims.
Can marble wall cladding be used externally?
Yes, in a ventilated rainscreen system. Travertine, granite, and quartzite are preferred for external use. Marble requires a frost-resistant grade and proper drainage behind the cladding.
How do I clean marble wall cladding?
Dust with a soft cloth or vacuum with a brush attachment. For deeper cleaning, use warm water and pH-neutral stone cleaner. Avoid pressure washers on sealed marble surfaces.
